Can I also use the results of a peace of mind test in a lawsuit?
Although the result of a peace of mind test is just as reliable as the result of a legally valid paternity test, we are not aware of any cases where the result of a peace of mind test has been accepted in legal proceedings. That’s because of the way the DNA is taken. If the parties take the DNA themselves, without the presence of an independent third party, the court or government agency cannot simply assume that the samples submitted actually come from the right people.
